Max Goldschmid is a freelance multi-instrumentalist in Tucson, Arizona. At age 6, Max begged for piano lessons and his career began. He has a remarkable range in instruments playing clarinet, bass clarinet, trombone, trumpet, piano, and alto, soprano, and tenor saxophone. Four years ago, Max became an avid participant in the Tucson Jazz Institute. He now plays regularly with the Arizona RoadRunners, a traditional jazz band, at many local, regional, and national venues. Over the years, Max has continued to improve his improvisational ability and he has received multiple awards at numerous competitions including “Outstanding Soloist” award at the prestigious Fullerton College Jazz Festival, first chair alto sax in the Arizona All-State-Jazz Band and the 2008-2009 outstanding musician award from the Tucson Jazz Institute. He has also won a soloist award for alto sax and trombone at the 2010 Next Generation Festival in Monterey, California, and the double solo award for Clarinet and Saxophone at the 2010 Essentially Ellington Competition at the Lincoln Center in New York. Max was a featured soloist and lead alto with the Tucson Jazz Institute’s highly regarded “Ellington Band”. They were the top community high school band at the 2010 Essentially Ellington competition in New York. Max was seen in 2008, 2009, and 2010 performing in the Jerry Lewis Telethon on live television throughout the world. In 2013 and 2014 Max was a finalist in the International Trumpet guild Jazz Competition, the Carmine Caruso International Jazz Trumpet Solo Competition, and the International Trombone Association’s jazz competition.
